I teach survival and first aid classes.  If you would llike me to help your group or home learn more, please feel free to ask.

Prevent, Prepare, Practice…these are the keys to safety, to deal with any situation, and to empower ourselves and children not to be fear the unexpected.  I encourage all of you to acquire the FREE publication from FEMA, “Are you Ready, citizen preparedness (it is a thick book with every kind of emergency, how to handle it, and ideas/spread sheets to practice all tasks with your family and friends)—you must call FEMA to receive this, cannot get it any other way.  Also, www.fema.org       http://www.fema.gov/kids/index.htm        www.equipped.com     www.survivalcenter.com are all great web sites for information…the best online that I have found.  I encourage all of you to make a disaster action plan, escape plan, a survival supplies kit for auto (backpack) and home (large container with lid), good supply of water (no chlorine—shelf life is fine for water for many months), and a basic first aid kit for auto and home.

These are simple, inexpensive ways to “keep oil in your lamps”.

I have many really good tips and resources on my web page for home made remedies and dealing with the sicknesses we come across this time of year.  Keep a daily dose of garlic, onions, hot pepper/cayenne pepper  and ginger around the house…these are natural antibiotics for anything.  Up the Vitamin C and vitamin A during the winter—these will fight and kill bacteria and infection.  Ears and sinus are our biggest dilemma this time of year…the above suggestions will help, and using oil of garlic (fresh mixed with olive oil, or ready made from store) will kill anything in the ear causing problems…I have never seen it fail.
