Bible study is first priority
in our schedules daily, so that is covered in one book

BiblioPlan:
www.biblioplan.net A family-friendly guide designed for a chronological
study of world history. Our plans integrate quality historical literature with
Biblical and secular history in a format that is easy to follow and requires
minimal parent preparation. It is designed so that all the children you are
schooling are studying the same period of history at the same time, and doing so
at their own level (levels K-High school). This program utilized the following
books weekly: The bible, Victor Journey through the Bible, Story of the World
(volume series), and Usborne or Kingfisher books. They give a list of
recommended readers and alternatives.
Sonlight Curriculum
www.sonlight.com Literature-rich homeschooling
Equip students to know how to think, not just memorize
facts. The entire Science and Reading programs are my favorites. The Catalogs
are great rescources for some of the best Math, Reading lists, Handwriting,
Foreign languages, Arts, and just great books--giving "strenghs" and
"weaknesses" reviews.
Miquon Math
(i get it from Sonlight) Helps children view the world mathmatically.
Emphasizes patterns and relationships rather than pre set formulas and methods.
Uses Cuisenaire rods and graphic layout. Children discover themselves how math
works. It requires curiosity, flexibility, and an attitude of openness to
inquiry and investigation. (K-4th)
A Reason for Writing
Allows the children to learn to write while using the bible
scripture. It gives a lot of practice in both printing and cursive, so that it
is learned well.
Basic but not Boring
series books are good for Social Studies and Geography. Also, the
Critical Thinking Co. is great for those subjects also.
Sign Language
is our choice for foreign language. I teach and have many resources if anyone is
ever interested in borrowing or looking at what i have. (we will be getting into
Latin and using sticker books for various language just to get a feel of the
world and the languages)
I get a lot of my extra curricular activity ideas and
supplements from CBC Homeschool
www.christianbook.com I like to use the catalog for a rescource, and for
reviews and criticisms.
Homeschool Family
fitness (book) is what we use daily for our PE.
Our family is very "outdoors"
and creative learning/lifestyle, so we have
daily time for "individual interest activities".
Michael love to draw, do art/craft, woodwork, cycle, and design (I have special
books and programs to suppliment those skills) Aimee likes to read, sew, knit,
collect dolls, pretend, horses, animal (vetrinarian), environmental/farm (i have
many rescources for her also.
We are on the trails at the
State parks often (weekly), camping, and in the visitor centers and
with the park interpretors regularly. That is a great way to learn history,
math, science, and build on individual skills, in "real" world.
First Aid and
Survival[/is another of my high priorty subjects. It is weekly
studies with suppliment "real" activities, learning experiences, , community
programs and service people, and books (such as Usbornes Survival Skills, and
Williamson publishing 'Kid's Guide to First Aid')
Titus 2

and home life Another book by Titus 2 family is Homeschooling with a Meek and
Quiet Spirit ---wonderful parent study.
Charlotte Mason
Companion, How to write a Low Cost/No Cost Curriculum, and What
Every Child Should Know Along the Way are the books i started
with 4 years ago and i am still using them regularly!
Good Things for Your
Family is a catalog put out by a family that started "Keepers of the
Faith" 25 years ago. They wanted to serve those tired of trying to avoid dangers
while looking for good things for your family. It is a treasure in my home now.
I have the handbooks and plan to begin a home school "club" using the Keepers
manuals this comming year.
